I decided to have a spontaneous trip to Indianapolis
in May, not knowing it was not a quiet weekend. I didn't know that the
largest single-day sports event in the world was happening that day. It's called the
Indianapolis 500 Mile Race.
Indianapolis is the world's racing capital, and Indianapolis airport has been named the best airport in North America for a couple of years. I could vouch for that. I love this airport – big, clean, and beautiful.
According to the records, Indianapolis is the 12th largest city in the US. It was the home to the first Union Station and became a central hub of regional transport.
Indianapolis is a beautiful city with a combination of classic and modern architecture. My city tour had covered great places to see. The city offers a lot of things to do for tourists. They host annual sporting events, so it's not surprising that they have a vast convention center. There's also a beautifully designed JW Marriott downtown and has one of the largest Marriott ballrooms in the world. The hotel directly connects to Indiana Convention Center, which makes them very unique.
My first stop from the airport was the Monument Circle, where they had a festival parade. It wasn't surprising that I couldn't find a hotel to stay in for the night, as I picked the wrong weekend to travel. So, I was dragging my luggage on the street. Who cares?
I had a fun lunch at Dick's Last Resort restaurant. They make hats for customers and write something funny and quirky. They made me one that says: "Warning: Very high maintenance. Proceed with caution." I thought that was flattering!
I love driving, even long drives. Sometimes I think about how it is to race a car.
